Courtyard and Rain

To divert this day from a stressful one (due to word-heavy examinations), my friends and I decided to hop in between government agencies to gather data for our theses. Thankfully the soft rain did not bother us that much (then afterwards, it poured hard which is actually kind of annoying). Upon entering the second building, I've noticed that government-owned ones are imposing on the outside, but has that familial feel inside. Familial in the sense that the building shape and orientation allows and encourage interaction and movement. In this case, the courtyard pretty much embodies the idea. This allows better ventilation and additional natural lighting to the buildings surrounding it. Also, it makes the structure more "breathable" because the massing has many openings, and the ground vegetation amplified the  softened look.

The pond area on the side actually has fishes on it! When I approached it, I almost freaked out because the railings didn't have bars on the rest of its height. A simple slip would lead you an instant one-on-one interaction with our scaled friends. But whatever; it creates a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere to the facility (kind of like Zen, Filipino style). Kudos to whoever designed this complex. Aside from the water leakage, you did a fairly good job!
